User Group Topics: “What We've Learned over 40 Years and What Still Matters" - NI's Senior Director, Tony Vento

LabVIEW has empowered engineers and scientists – many without traditional programming backgrounds – to turn ideas into systems for 40 years. We will explore the evolution of LabVIEW, highlighting technical innovation, hard-earned lessons, and a little luck.  Through real “war stories,” we’ll see how LabVIEW was shaped not only by product roadmaps, but by the demands of test, measurement, and automation applications across a wide range of industries applied it to real-world engineering challenges. Looking ahead to the future of LabVIEW including the role of AI (from an advisor to code generation, graphical to text), as well as advances in the user interface, software engineering, and security. The same principles that have sustained it for 40 years – openness, collaboration, and practical engineering value – will continue to shape its future.
